Based in our South London Office at London Bridge, Oliver is a partner in our Commercial Department and a contentious probate specialist and an expert in insolvency litigation.
Oliver advises in relation to disputes arising in respect of the validity of Wills, the administration of estates, and claims by disappointed beneficiaries under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
Specialising in complex trusts and probate disputes, Oliver has a deep empathy for the human stories behind his cases. As far as possible, he works to retain/restore family relationships which, by the time lawyers are involved, are often torn asunder. He is not afraid to bring things to a head with the aim of getting a result; often this is what is required. However, he focuses on using alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and negotiation rather than filing in Court; reaching an early resolution wherever possible.
In commercial litigation, Oliver’s focus is on shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, professional negligence, product liability, transport and freight disputes, and construction.
With 17 years of experience in insolvency work, Oliver is a specialist in advising companies and individuals on all aspects of insolvency, with a particular focus on advising in connection with claims against directors. This includes claims of wrongful trading, misfeasance and to set aside antecedent transactions, as well as directors’ disqualification.
Dispute resolution and insolvency are, by their nature, stressful and emotionally charged. Oliver is calm, practical, and decisive, traits which are greatly appreciated by his clients, and noted in Chambers and Partners 2019 – “He receives additional praise for his client relationship management skills.”
