Anthony Gold is proud to be a member of Heart of the City. During 2018 we are taking part in their Foundation Programme to help develop our responsible business approach.
We place great importance on the value of Corporate Social Responsibility. This is reflected in our core beliefs, particularly our wish to ‘help those who most need it’. As a firm, we undertake and support a varied programme of Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility programme focuses on the different ways we can give back to our local communities in South London and support organisations which are aligned with the areas of legal work we specialise in so that we can continue to help those who need it most beyond the provision of our legal services.
Charity of the year
We have a separate Charity of the Year initiative. Our Charity of the Year is a UK registered charity, proposed and voted upon by our members of staff which the firm commits to support for one year. This allows the voices of those within the firm to be heard and provides an opportunity for the firm to support a cause which might not otherwise fall within our programme of activities. Our charity of the year for 2018 is the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Fundraising and Charitable Giving
We encourage and support those within the firm to take part in a wide range of fundraising activities throughout the year. Examples of our annual fundraising activities include the Great Legal Bake and London Legal Walk for the London Legal Support Trust. We also support and take part in a number of different fundraising activities each year for Headway East London, the Robert Poulton Foundation and many local charities.
We are a member of Law Works and take part in their Not for Profit programme. Many individuals within the firm separately provide pro-bono advice and assistance at local advice centres and clinics who need legal advisors with experience in the areas of law in which we specialise. We also offer pro-bono work in certain cases where no other funding option is available. The legal advice centres we provide advice and assistance to include but are not limited to Centre 70, Advising Communities (formerly Blackfriars Advice Centre, then Advising London) Southwark Law Centre, Age UK, Carers Hub, Families Need Fathers and the Citizens Advice Bureau at the Central Family Court, as well as a number of citizens advice bureaus in South London.
We recognise that time can be just as valuable to a charity as money. We operate a volunteering policy which enables those at the firm to take up to 2 days paid leave each year to volunteer for local causes and causes which align with the areas of legal work we specialise in. This is an important part of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme as it enables individuals to dedicate time during working hours towards a cause which is important to them, with the support of the firm.
Individuals at the firm provide mentoring support to young people, law school students, and professionals with a particular interest in our specialist areas.
We are a member of the Legal Sustainability Alliance. We are committed to minimising the impact of our business activities on the environment and regularly review our operations with a view to introducing measures to achieve this across all three offices.
