Responsible Business (RB)

Heart of the city 2018

Anthony Gold is proud to be an Advanced Member of Heart of the City following completion of their Foundation Programme in 2018.

We place great importance on the value of Responsible Business.  This is reflected in our core beliefs and our wish to help those who most need it.

Our Responsible Business programme focuses on giving back to our local communities in South London and supporting organisations aligned with our specialist areas of legal work. This way we can continue to help those who need it most beyond the provision of our legal services.

Charity of the year

HESTIA SAFE SPACE UK SAYS NO MORE TO DOMESTIC ABUSE. | Postcode Dream Fund

https://www.hestia.org/

Hestia is one of the largest support providers of domestic abuse refuges in London and South East and the main organisation supporting victims of modern slavery in the capital.

Hestia helps more than 15,000 adults and children in crisis across London every year by supporting those experiencing domestic abuse, modern slavery, and mental health needs.

Other Charities we have donated to in 2021:

South London Cares

https://southlondoncares.org.uk/home – tackling loneliness and isolation in South London by bringing older and younger neighbours together.

        Norwood Community Kitchen

https://www.southnorwoodcommunitykitchen.co.uk/ – creating free, equal, and accessible community spaces where people can build relationships, have a voice, and access what they need.

St Christopher’s Hospice

https://www.stchristophers.org.uk/ – helping provide palliative and end-of-life care to people who need it, after what has been an exceptionally tough year.

Law Centres Network

https://www.lawcentres.org.uk/ – as the effects of the pandemic threaten more people’s homes and livelihoods, there is a greater need for Law Centres to assist with both legal and non-legal problems they face.

Age UK

https://www.ageuk.org.uk/ – helping tackle loneliness in Lambeth.

Fundraising and Charitable Giving

We encourage and support a range of fundraising activities for charities whose work falls within the remit of our Responsible Business programme focus. We also take part in a number of events for the London Legal Support Trust.

Pro Bono

We are a member of Law Works and their Not for Profit programme.

Separately, we will assess our ability to offer pro-bono work, where no other funding is available, on a case by case basis.

Individuals also volunteer at local advice centres and clinics with a need for experienced legal advisors in the areas of law we specialise, including Centre 70, Advising Communities (formerly Blackfriars Advice Centre/Advising London) Southwark Law Centre, Age UK, Carers Hub, Families Need Fathers and the Citizens Advice Bureau at the Central Family Court.

Volunteering

In recognition that time can be just as valuable as money we have a volunteer policy which enables every member of staff to take up to 2 days paid volunteer leave each year. This is an important part of our Responsible Business programme, allowing individuals to dedicate working hours towards a cause important to them.

Mentoring

We provide mentoring support on an individual basis to young people, law school students, and professionals with particular interest in our specialist areas.

Environmental

We are a member of the Legal Sustainability Alliance.

We are committed to minimising the impact of our business activities on the environment and regularly review our operations with a view to introducing measures to achieve this across all three offices.

If you would like any information on the activities in our Responsible Business programme please contact Sarah Hughes.
