At Anthony Gold we have two higly experienced mediators, Caroline Bowden and Kim Beatson. They both carry out Mediation and Information Assessment Meetings (MIAMs).
Anyone wishing to issue financial or children applications must now show that they have considered mediation before applying to the courts.
Procedure
There are two options:
- The mediator carries out a Willingness Test (along the lines of the procedure in place for pre-legal aid applicants).
- The client has an individual MIAM, regardless of whether the other party will engage.
Charges
- For clients who are publicly funded, the cost of a MIAM will still be covered by the LSC.
- Even a client who is privately funded will not not need to pay if the other party attends and is eligible for public funding.
- If no party attending is eligible for public funding, the fee for the Willingness Test and the issue of Form FM1 is £50+VAT. Caroline Bowden's fees for a MIAM are £100+VAT. Kim Beatson's fees for a MIAM are £150+VAT for one person and £200+VAT per couple.
How to Refer
If you are referring yourself, please complete the mediation referral form.
If you are a solicitor referring a client:
- If your client requires a Willingness Test, the fee will need to accompany our mediation referral form.
- If you want your client to attend a MIAM straight away, they should be prepared to pay the fee at the meeting unless payment is sent in advance.
- If your client wants to come straight to a MIAM, please indicate whether you would still like us to contact the other party before setting up the MIAM, so that they can attend together (they will both still have initial individual meetings at the start).
- Complete the mediation referral form.
