We do everything possible to ensure that our clients do not need to spend time and energy worrying about finances. We understand that following a catastrophic injury immediate financial assistance is often required.
In every catastrophic injury case, our first priority is to obtain a substantial interim payment at the earliest opportunity. Such payments can then be used to fund a case manager, private medical treatment and therapies, care and assistance, new or adapted accommodation, and specialist equipment, which may include a specially adapted vehicle or assisted technology.
Equally importantly, interim payments can be used to replace lost income caused by inability to work following a catastrophic injury or to compensate members of the family for time which they have had to spend caring for an injured loved one.
The time taken to obtain an interim payment depends in part on the circumstances of the accident or negligence and on whether the insurers or other opponent are willing to accept liability. If liability is disputed, we will usually issue Court proceedings at the first opportunity and ask the Court to deal with liability before anything else. This frequently then results in an admission.
In cases where it is not yet possible to obtain an interim payment, we may be able to work with insurers to fund rehabilitation under the Code of Best Practice, to which we subscribe. This involves insurers paying a rehabilitation provider directly.
