Timothy specialises in Landlord and Tenant Litigation.
He deals with all kinds of disputes, including many claims by tenants and leaseholders to force their landlord to carry out repairs. He has forced landlords to carry out many thousands of pounds of repairs, including new roofs, new drains, new windows and new heating systems. Recently he has brought a number of cases to force a landlord to get rid of a tropical insect infestation on an estate. Timothy also uses his skills in this area to assist landlords faced with such claims to reach a cost effective solution.
Timothy advises landlords on a variety of issues including possession claims, deposit protection and the Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licensing. He is able to guide landlords through the minefield of this complex area of law. A recent case included advising on obtaining a temporary exemption to HMO licensing.
He acts in commercial property disputes for landlord and tenant. Recent cases have included defending a claim for end of lease repairs resulting in the bill being reduced by over 75%. Other cases have involved forfeiture and section 25 lease termination notices, acting for both tenant and landlord.
Timothy is recommended in The Legal 500 2011 for being "forceful and enthusiastic". He has "passion and commitment to social justice".
He is a member of the Housing Law Practitioners Association and Lambeth Housing Lawyers.
Timothy has also been awarded higher rights of audience from August 31, 2010 and is recognised as a Solicitor Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience (Higher Court, Civil and Criminal Proceedings). This allows him to represent his clients in all courts without the need to instruct a barrister.
Out of work Timothy enjoys sailing, walking, Arthur the cat and being Dad.
