Monika is a solicitor in our commercial department specialising in a wide range of commercial work, civil litigation and employment law.
Monika gained distinctions in her Graduate Diploma in Law and her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law. She trained with Anthony Gold and qualified as a solicitor in 2010.
Previous to this Monika worked in Belgium. After achieving a distinction in her Master's degree in European Politics, Business and Law, Monika worked in Brussels for an advice service set up by the European Commission. She provided the general public with advice about their rights and obligations when moving to another EU country. While in Belgium Monika also worked in a non-government sector with European organisations active in the field of free movement and European citizenship rights. She also project managed the setting up and the first two years of activity of Citizens Advice International, an umbrella organisation gathering together Citizens Advice networks across the world.
Monika is author of Who is Afraid of EU Enlargement?, the first report on the impact of EU's 2004 enlargement. Monika presented this to the European Parliament. She is also co-author of annual reviews of this report and author of 50 Questions and Answers about Your Rights as an EU Citizen.
Monika's mother tongue is Polish. She also speaks fluent German, conversational Spanish and basic French.
Out of work Monika loves mountains. She is a competent trekker and keen climber. In 2009 she climbed Kilimanjaro for children's charity Barnado's.
