Margaret Hatwood

Partner and Collaborative Lawyer

Margaret specialises in medium to high value financial cases involving married and unmarried couples. Much of her work often involves complex international, business or tax elements.

Margaret is one of only a few solicitors in London to hold the sought-after Resolution Accreditation in high-value cases. Margaret is also accredited in cohabitation disputes and domestic violence. She is also a collaborative lawyer and a member of the Collaborative Solutions pod.

She frequently acts for high-profile clients including Company Directors, senior members of the legal and medical professions and the City, including Investment Bankers and Fund Managers.

Margaret also has extensive experience in private children proceedings including residence and contact disputes and leave to remove cases.

Whilst now based in central London, Margaret was, in her early career, a partner in a firm in the West Country where she has a home. Here she built up considerable expertise in cases with an equestrian or agricultural element and those involving senior naval officers.

She is recommended in the Legal 500 where she is described as a "quality" lawyer who has "expertise in high-net-worth divorce cases". While at regional firm Thomas Eggar Margaret was a senior player in a team described by Chambers Legal Directory as "highly recommended for its effective and cost-efficient family advice."

Margaret joined Anthony Gold in 2009, and was made a Partner in December 2009.

Margaret writes frequently for the specialist family journals including Family Law and Family Law Journal and contributes to New Law Journal.

She is much sought after as a commentator on the financial aspects of celebrity divorces as well as more serious aspects of family law for broadcasters such as the BBC and Sky and the national press including The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, The Observer and The Financial Times as well as international publications.

Margaret is also a regular speaker on family law topics and is praised for her lecturing skills. Recent feedback from a conference where four of the other speakers were family law QCs included: "You were one of the strongest speakers at the conference. Delegates commented on how you knew the subject inside out and demonstrated such a clear vision".
