Jenny Kennedy

Partner

Jenny Kennedy is a Partner in the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence department. She specialises in complex and serious head and spinal injury claims.

Jenny is highly ranked in both The Legal 500 and Chambers. The 2012 edition of Chambers ranks her as a "star individual", one of just three in the field of personal injury in London. She is also ranked in the field of clinical negligence. This independent guide to the legal profession describes her as "extremely thorough and dedicated to her clients" for whom "she always goes the extra mile". She fights "tooth and nail" for her clients and one client comments how "she always made herself available and made sense of complex issues". The Legal 500 2011 ranks her as a "leading individual", who is recommended for her "integrity" and ability to "inspire confidence from the outset".

She has worked on numerous high profile cases which include representing victims of the Hatfield train crash. Her client base includes overseas visitors who have suffered serious injury whilst in the UK and she has travelled extensively overseas for business.

Within the last three years she has recovered in excess of £19 million in compensation for her clients. Three of the larger claims involved recovering a package worth in excess of £4 million for a young man left with a serious brain injury as a result of psychiatric negligence, a sum of £2.4 million for a person rendered paraplegic in a car crash, and an apportionment of a £1.6m settlement for a man partially paralysed in a window cleaning accident.

In March 2009, Jenny secured one of the highest single interim payments ever to be awarded. She secured £1.75 million for a young woman who suffered serious spinal injuries in a road traffic accident.

Jenny is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Law, and both the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel and Clinical Negligence Panel.

A former nurse, in her clinical negligence work she has a particular expertise in orthopaedic and psychiatric injury cases. She has co-ordinated group litigation, in particular multi-poisoning cases, and is also noted for her sports injury work.

Jenny is on the joint editorial board of Kemp & Kemp: Personal Injury Law, Practice and Procedure. She is also a co-author of Personal Injury Practice, published by Butterworths, and is a regular lecturer on personal injury law and practice.

Outside of work her interests include distance running, horse riding and choral singing.
