David specialises in property law, particularly all aspects of residential, commercial and agricultural landlord and tenant law. David is known for his expertise in the Housing Act 2004 and is a recognised expert on tenancy deposit protection, houses in multiple occupation, and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. He is also recognised as an authority in the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contract Regulations, the Property Misdescriptions Act, agent's fees, and unlawful eviction and disrepair. He is trained and experienced in providing alternative forms of dispute resolution, including adjudication and mediation, and has advised one of the government approved tenancy deposit protection schemes set up by the Housing Act 2004.

David joined Anthony Gold in February 2011. Previous to this he was a trainee solicitor and practice manager of Painsmith Solicitors, a niche practice specialising in landlord and tenant law. As well as acting for clients in a wide range of landlord and tenant matters, David was a key player in promoting the practice and was responsible for creating and promoting a successful online blog. He is highly commended for his commercial awareness and practical approach to legal problems.
David is an active and experienced mediator. He is a former trustee of the Portsmouth Mediation Service and is accredited by two of the leading mediation training organisations. He is available for mediation appointments and particularly specialises in mediations relating to property. He is a panel member of the Clerksroom mediation panel.
David is a prolific writer and his work can be found in a number of specialist publications aimed at the property sector and he contributes to the highly regarded nearlylegal housing blog. He has recently published The Guide to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and he is also regularly invited to speak at events by a diverse range of groups including the RICS, NAEA, ARLA, and Central Law Training. He has also just recorded a podcast on Tenancy Deposit Protection with online CPD provider CPDcast.
He is a member of the Agricultural Law Association, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Association of Residential Lettings Agents.
David is also Anthony Gold's Head of Compliance, ensuring the firm achieves compliance on a day to day basis.
