Head of Department

David is a Partner and Head of the Commercial and Court of Protection departments, undertaking a wide range of commercial, civil litigation and Deputyship work including:

  • resolving commercial disputes
  • professional negligence
  • contractual disputes
  • contentious probate and breach of trusts
  • Inheritance Act claims
  • intellectual property
  • property disputes
  • resolving contentious Property and Affairs Deputyships
  • acting for “P” in both Welfare and Property and Affairs Proceedings

He also has over 10 years experience of employment matters and he has extensive experience in Court of Protection work. He has been appointed to the Court of Protection Deputyship Panel, specialising in complex cases. David is regularly requested by the Court and various local authorities to act as deputy in cases where there is an ongoing family dispute, concerns over residence or financial abuse of an elderly person, or where there are problematical assets in the UK or abroad.

David has a specific interest in cases where there is ongoing litigation between family members or some allegation as to the dissipation of assets of a vulnerable individual. David’s experience as a litigator enables him to effectively tackle complex family disputes whilst ensuring that an incapacitated person and his interests are adequately protected. David also frequently works with vulnerable clients who lack capacity in the administration of their property and affairs and he is often involved in advising on a variety of welfare issues.

David has been appointed a Notary Public. In this role he authenticates legal documents for both commercial firms and private clients for use abroad.

David comes from a business background and his first degree is in economics, with a Masters degree in Advanced Legal Studies. He qualified as a solicitor in 1993, after training in a central London commercial firm. He was made a partner of Warren & Co in 1997 and then became a partner at Anthony Gold in 2003, when the two firms merged.

David is a member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists.
