Margaret Hatwood to speak at Advanced Family Law Conference

Margaret Hatwood has been invited to speak at an Advanced Family Law Conference at the Caledonian Club in London on 1 February 2012. The conference, Family Law: Shaping New Case Law into Highly Developed Advice for Clients, will provide "skillful and persuasive answers to 18 thorny family law questions" which have been developed with the help of 71 leading family law practitioners.

Other speakers include 4 leading Family QCs and 3 heads of leading family law departments.

Margaret will be speaking on cohabitation and maintenance, and addressing the question, "If the original Order states that maintenance is to be "reviewed" if the receiving party cohabits for a period of more than 6 months, what approach is the court likely to take in reality?"

Other questions being addressed are on topics including inherited and pre-acquired wealth, capital reserves as income, paying maintenance from capital, bankruptcy and ancillary relief, EU maintenance regulations, self-help documents, habitual residence, paying maintenance from capital and a look at the case of Kernott v Jones.
