Anthony Gold provides legal advice to women with PIP breast implants

It has been reported today in the Guardian that Mr Jean-Claude Mas, head of the firm that supplied implants containing non-medical grade silicone has been arrested and taken into custody.

Mr Mas is the founder of the French firm that was involved in the global health scare and who produced the faulty PIP breast implants. Mr Mas tried to cut corners by using a gel that was not approved for medical use but included a mix of agricultural and industrial grade silicone for the PIP breast implants.

It is reported that 40,000 women could have received PIP implants in the UK.

Advice from the government conflicts with advice from the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, making it a confusing and worrying time for women who have the PIP breast implants.
