Nazia acts for a wide range of clients. Over the years, she has gained significant experience in divorce and financial cases enabling her to advise her clients on the legal consequences when their relationship breaks down. She frequently acts for clients or cases involving city-based high-income individuals and those involving hidden assets.
Nazia joined us in April 2017. Before then, she was a family solicitor and founding partner of a law firm (2005 – 2015) in Canary Wharf which provided her with a platform to act for clients on a variety of matters requiring advice on issues relating to divorce, a financial settlement, arrangements for children and protection against domestic abuse. She was also very fortunate to have been able to act successfully for working disabled clients and in particular for fathers who were being denied contact to see their children.
In relation to children cases, she is regularly recommended to clients who are being denied contact, or to parents who wish to regulate contact because of real concerns for their children’s safety. Her cases will involve representing fathers and mothers in complex private law children cases which include acting for parents with children who have special needs and cases involving drug and alcohol abuse. She also undertakes contested applications to relocate involving non-Hague Convention countries, but also for parents wishing to relocate to another city in England or Wales.
With regard to individuals who require a divorce solicitor who has financial expertise, Nazia advises on a number of issues. Nazia is an accredited Resolution specialist in finance cases. She frequently acts for clients involving high income based cases to small money cases where meeting needs are essential i.e. to ensure that the parent with the main day to day care of any child/ren has a secure home in which to raise young children.
Her experience involves cases requiring emergency injunctions to prevent financial transfers, change in financial circumstances requiring variation of maintenance orders, matters involving children with special needs, obtaining orders to meet school fees, legal fees and maintenance for children if the court has jurisdiction.
Nazia takes a robust approach when instructed by a client who has been subjected to domestic abuse. Her cases often include serious allegations of physical, financial, sexual and emotional abuse which require emergency applications. She is an accredited Resolution specialist in domestic abuse cases.
Being a member of the Asian Muslim community, and being an Asian Muslim family law solicitor in London, she has over the years been approached by, or recommended to individuals who seek a solicitor familiar with religious practices (whether from the Asian sub-continent, Middle East or other) and cultural practices which originate from the Asian sub-continent.
Of a particular developing niche area, Nazia is contacted by those who would like a solicitor who is sensitive to the cultural and religious pressure one might be encountering in their relationship or marriage and the emotional and conflicting confusion that often follows. Such pressure and confusion might prevent one from taking necessary court action.
Most new clients are either personally recommended or following an internet search. If you want to know how Nazia can help you, please contact her.
Nazia offers a ‘one off’ initial free half hour telephone consultation by prior arrangement. Please contact her team assistant should you want to arrange one.
