The crisis over fire safety in tower blocks, after the terrible events of the Grenfell Tower fire, and the evacuation of the Chalcots Estate in Camden, is affecting many tenants and leaseholders.
Many have lost their homes, or have been evacuated from them, some have lost their belongings, and tragically, some have been injured or lost family members.
People’s lives have been affected in many and complex ways. Other people are facing uncertainty over what might happen about their homes and flats in the future, and what costs they might face.
While rehousing is an immediate need for those who have permanently or temporarily lost their homes, there will soon be a need for compensation for what happened, for loss of belongings, or loss of rent, or loss of a property. Those injured may need help and support.
