Everything you need to know about what we want you to be able to do.

  1. A Trainee Solicitor with the firm will be expected to assist in the provision of legal services and the giving of legal advice to clients of the firm to the highest standard. To achieve this, a trainee will be expected
  2. 1.1 to keep fully up-to-date with the relevant areas of law and practice
  3. 1.2 where appropriate, to have a good knowledge of the public funding system
  4. 1.3 to keep fully up-to-date with and to comply with the solicitors rules of conduct
  5. 1.4 to attend external and/or internal training courses as appropriate
  6. A Trainee Solicitor will be employed to work in several areas of the firm’s practice. However, because of the developing nature of a solicitor’s business, we may require a trainee to retrain to undertake different or additional aspects of work at various times.
  7. A Trainee Solicitor will be expected to provide an efficient and friendly service to clients. To achieve this a trainee will be expected
  8. 3.1  to adopt a businesslike, polite and sensible approach in their telephone and written dealings with clients, other solicitors and third parties
  9. 3.2 to adhere to the client care standards set out in the firm’s terms of business and/or the office manual
  10. 3.3 to write letters and produce documents in so far as possible in plain English and with a good quality of presentation
  11. To achieve these objectives a trainee will be expected to work as part of a team with Partners, Solicitors, Fee Earners, other Trainees and Support Staff as and when appropriate. A Trainee Solicitor must, therefore, be capable of delegating tasks and supervising where appropriate.
  12. To ensure the smooth running of the practice a trainee will be expected to adhere to the administrative procedures set out in the office manual and any other procedures which may be periodically introduced.
